- Several businesses and the Blytheville Chamber of Commerce are speaking out against a one cent sales tax proposal. The city of Blytheville will have a special election on October 20 for the tax proposal. Some businesses along Main Street have put up signs in opposition and are even asking people to vote no to the tax. Tommy Abbott, owner of Delta Auto Parts, has a sign out front stating "No plan. Abbott, who is also on the city council, told Region 8 News this sales tax would hurt business like his and send customers to neighboring cities.
