JONESBORO, AR - Several Region 8 businesses were fined recently for selling alcohol to minors. Jordan's Kwik Stop #37, 1215 North Falls Blvd., and Jordan's Kwik Stop #3, 205 South Falls Blvd., in Wynne were each fined $400 and placed on 90 days probation, according to the Department of Finance Administration's Alcoholic Beverage Control board website.

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - The Blytheville Fire Department said crews are working Sunday night to put off a fire on Elm Street. The department said the fire at the Federal Compress began shortly before 9 p.m. At one point, it was spreading to other buildings, but the crews were able to contain it to one building.

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - A Blytheville teenager was arrested and charged with 1st degree murder in the death of 17-year old Dewaun Miller, according to Police Chief Ross Thompson. Thompson said Javander Williams, 18, of Blytheville shot Miller in the 1000 block of Clark Street Monday night. Williams' bond was set at $100,000 Thursday. According to police, Miller was shot Monday night and died at Great River Medical Center. A prayer vigil was held Tuesday afternoon after the shooting. Thompson said Williams surrendered to police Wednesday night.

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - In a response to a murder that took place in Blytheville earlier in the week, the members of Healing in the Hood held a peace march to stop the violence. A 17 year old was murdered Monday night on Clark Street in Blytheville, which sparked a push to stop the violence in the community. Chavis Spann, a member of Healing in the Hood, said they have seen a lot of positive feedback after their announcement of the march. He said it isn't just Healing in the Hood who wants to see change come to Blytheville.

Courthouses were built in Osceola and in Blytheville to make access to government services easier for county residents. Because of increasing costs in maintaining the two century-old facilities, officials are discussing building a new courthouse and combining the operations. "Everybody in Blytheville would vote to keep it in Blytheville," White said. As of Friday, there were 830 people who joined the group. "There is a lot of emotion behind this," White said. This isn't going to happen overnight. But we have to look to the future.
