OSCEOLA, AR - Two men charged in a deadly Blytheville shooting appeared in Osceola District Court Monday. Randen Caruthers, 17, is charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery, and engaging in violent criminal group activity. The two men, along with the late Kennon Daniels, are accused of opening fire on Arthur Parnell at his home on McHaney Street on June 22. Daniels was shot during the aggravated robbery, according to Captain Scott Adams, commander of the Blytheville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.
Blytheville man charged with aggravated robbery, assault
The shooting happened on June 13 at a home in the 1900-block of Hearn Street, according to a news release from Captain Scott Adams, commander of the Blytheville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division. Based on the information provided, Adams said, an affidavit was completed and warrants were obtained for Aldridge's arrest. On June 26 an investigator traveled to the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office to meet with Aldridge, who was being held for a parole violation since June 24. He's scheduled to appear in court on July 27.
Region 8 church to buy back guns in Blytheville for $100
JONESBORO, AR - Instead of relying on prayer to solve the recent spate of shootings in Blytheville, one Region 8 church is putting its money where its mouth is. To get more guns off the streets, Greater Dimensions World Outreach Ministries is working with Blytheville police to collect guns in exchange for $100 cash, no questions asked. "The issue in Blytheville is horrendous," said Pastor CA Turner. Mentors will also be on site to offer help. "I say this all the time, 'Hurting people have a tendency to hurt people,'" said Turner.
Murder victim's parents call for end to violence in Blytheville
BLYTHEVILLE, AR - A Region 8 family hopes to turn their pain into something positive for the city of Blytheville. On Monday, 20-year-old Kennon Daniels, Jr was shot on McHaney Street . Blytheville police are investigating several shootings and one other death. His parents, Kennon Daniels, Sr. Daniels told the crowd at the vigil that the community must be proactive in the lives of Blytheville's youth to prevent this violence. "We're asking every parent, every person that can touch a young person's life to give them something," Daniels said.

More than 75 people laid off at Blytheville manufacturer
- More than 75 employees were temporarily laid off at TMK Ipsco in Blytheville after they were warned of the possibility 2 months ago. According to Roger Bentley, TMK Ipsco Corporate Director of Communications, the plant is laying off 76 employees after it laid off 42 other people in June. Bentley said the layoffs are temporary and jobs could be available if oil prices rise and drilling ramps back up. He said the plant itself is not closing. Bentley said the plant builds tubes used in the drilling process.
Man suspected in woman's shooting arrested
According to police, officers were contacted by the Great River Medical Center on July 9 to report Aldridge's gunshot wound. Aldridge initially told officers she was shot while holding her child outside the Peoples' residence when she was shot. Aldridge was then shot in the right shoulder after she told police she begged for her life. She then advised police that Peoples told her what to say to officers as he was taking her to the hospital. The infant was not injured. He is also being held on a federal warrant for an unrelated drug charge.
Two identified in Kennett store shooting, one at large
BLYTHEVILLE, AR - A shooting at a store in Southeast Missouri ended with two suspects being arrested in Northeast Arkansas, but a third is still being sought by police. Those in custody in Mississippi County, Arkansas are Antonio Brown, 36, of Joiner and Julius Lamon Jones, 35, of Blytheville, according to Bill Sadler, public information officer for Arkansas State Police. Minutes later the pursuit entered Blytheville and Brown, who was driving the getaway vehicle, lost control causing it to wreck, according to Sadler.

Police: Woman shot while holding her baby
- Investigators in Blytheville are looking into the shooting of a woman who went to a local hospital when she was shot in the wrist. According to police, officers were contacted by the Great River Medical Center when Chrishunda Aldridge, 20, walked in with a gunshot wound. Aldridge said she was walking home and holding her infant child when she was shot. The child was not hurt. Aldridge was taken to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis for treatment. Details of where Aldridge was shot were not available.
Third Kennett store shooting suspect surrenders to police
- The third and final suspect in a Kennett store shooting surrendered to police Saturday night, according to Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook. Dontario Jones now sits behind bars in the Mississippi County Jail. Sheriff Cook said Dontario Jones is around the same age as the other two men. His charges are still pending. According to police, the 3 men robbed Curt's Grocery in Kennett and shot the store owner, Lee Sawyer, five to six times. Sawyer shot back at the robbers and survived the incident.
Chamber says fight for choice
The district announced on April 22 it would not participate in the School Choice Act of 2013, saying it was exempt from the act because of desegregation obligations. Because of the academics," Brett Harris said. "We considered moving out of Blytheville and to Armorel, but we couldn't sell our home," Stacey Harris said. Sheriff: 11-year-old girl shot on Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County
- The Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened along Interstate 55 Saturday that left a child in the hospital. They were driving south on I55 when the driver's door window suddenly blew out. It was determined she was shot with a 9mm round. The girl was flown to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, where she is expected to undergo surgery Sunday. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office at 573-333-4101, or contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Lowes helps Blytheville Humane Society
- Lowes is helping the Blytheville Humane Society make some much needed renovations. Volunteers from Lowes and the humane society spent all day Saturday working on the project. The project is expected to be complete in about 2 weeks. The Humane Society said this project is really going to help the shelter animals and workers. Pam Ford from the Humane Society said letting the dogs out all at once will help much needed renovations to start on the inside. The Humane Society said they are grateful for everyone who has helped make this project possible.

Former Arkansas Attorney General to represent city in battle over courthouse
- The Osceola City Council authorized Mayor Dickie Kennemore to hire former Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel to represent the city in the fight to keep their courthouse. Right now, Mississippi County has two courthouses, one in Blytheville and the other in Osceola. At a quorum court meeting on June 23, 2015, members voted to move forward with plans to build a new courthouse in Blytheville. County leaders in Osceola wish to keep their courthouse which is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
